How to get purchasing advice
The Purchasing Advice tool helps you avoid stockouts and overstocking by providing data-driven recommendations on what and when to reorder from your suppliers.
ABC Classification
StoreLinkr automatically classifies your products to help you prioritize your purchasing:
- A-Class: Fast-moving products that generate the most revenue. They require higher stock buffers.
- B-Class: Consistent performers that require moderate attention.
- C-Class: Slow-moving products that should be kept at minimal stock levels.
You can configure default Min/Max Stock levels and fine-tune the classification logic (like the number of days of history) in the Stock Settings.
Creating a Purchase Advice
- Navigate to Orders > Purchasing Advice.
- Click Create Advice.
- Configure your parameters:
- History: How many days of historical sales data to analyze (e.g., last 60 days).
- Prediction Period: How many days of future sales you want to cover (e.g., next 14 days).
- Lead Time: How many days it takes for the supplier to deliver the items.
- Safety Stock: Toggle this to add a buffer based on your ABC settings.
- Click Calculate Advice.
Reviewing and Acting
Once calculated, you can view the detailed advice:
- Suggested Quantity: The exact number of items to order to meet your target stock levels.
- Supplier: Which supplier to order from (prioritizing your Preferred Supplier).
- Convert to Order: Click Convert to Purchase Order to automatically create a draft PO for the relevant suppliers.
Manual vs. Automated
While the advice is calculated automatically, you always have final control. You can edit the suggested quantities or delete items from the advice before converting it into a formal order.
