Setting up a Dropshipping Workflow (POS to Online Store)
In this tutorial, we'll walk through the process of setting up a seamless dropshipping workflow. We will import products from a physical Point of Sale (POS) system like CycleSoftware or Wilmar and export them to an online store like Shopify or WooCommerce.
Overview
A dropshipping workflow in StoreLinkr consists of two main parts:
- Product Import: Fetching items, descriptions, and basic stock from your POS.
- Product Export: Pushing those items to your webshop.
Step 1: Using the Workflow Wizard
The easiest way to start is with the Workflow Wizard found on your StoreLinkr Dashboard.
- Integration Type: Select Products.
- Import Source: Choose your POS system (e.g., CycleSoftware). You will need your API credentials for this step.
- Export Target: Choose your online store (e.g., WooCommerce).
- Test Connections: Click the "Test Connections" button to ensure StoreLinkr can communicate with both systems.
- Create Integration: Once successful, save the workflow.
Step 2: Filtering Your Catalog
You probably don't want to export every single nut and bolt from your POS to your online store.
- Navigate to Catalog > Categories > Import Filters.
- Scan your source categories.
- Uncheck any categories that aren't relevant for your webshop (e.g., "Internal Parts" or "Service Labor").
- StoreLinkr will now only import products from the "Allowed" categories.
Step 3: Enriching Data in the PIM
POS data is often quite technical. Use the PIM Editor to make it consumer-friendly.
- Go to Catalog > Products.
- Open a product and update the Short and Long Descriptions.
- Upload high-quality images to replace the basic POS thumbnails.
- Configure Product Selections to only export items that have a high margin or at least 3 images.
Step 4: Automating Fulfillment
Once a sale happens in your online store:
- StoreLinkr imports the order.
- Based on your Order Settings, the order is routed back to your POS or a specific supplier.
- When the status changes in the POS, StoreLinkr syncs the tracking info back to the customer.
Congratulations! You've just automated your retail-to-online pipeline.
